WELCOME TO Mercer County CTC

(1994) President Judge Francis J. Fornelli approves a plan to determine the viability of a CTC Program in Mercer County. The County of Mercer via the Juvenile Probation Department agrees to act as the Pass Through Agent for all CTC funds.

The Shenango Valley Coalition for a Safe Community is organized by County Officials and community leaders from Sharon and Farrell to assess the need for a prevention initiative. A prevention board with key leaders is established to assess community needs.

The Shenango Valley Coalition for a Safe Community identifies the priority risk factors of:

  • Early and persistent anti-social behavior (school domain).
  • Transition and mobility (community domain)
  • Availability of drugs (community domain)

    • Mercer County is selected by Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as one of eight original CTC sites being operationalized across the Commonwealth of PA and is awarded monies to enact prevention initiatives.

    The Shenango Valley Coalition for a Safe Community establishes two individual sites located in the cities of Sharon and Farrell.
